Value First… Always

I managed to catch Gary Vaynerchuk backstage at an event last year and got in a quick discussion about where he sees online advertising moving in the next year

Those 3 words sum the discussion up

And it has without a doubt altered the route we have taken our businesses

Too many people think short term with their marketing

They don’t look at the bigger picture behind what they are doing with their business as a whole

They get so consumed by immediate results, immediate gratification, immediate growth

They lose sight of everything they set out to create

In a world thats becoming more and more number driven, more and more target driven

People ignore the human element, they drop that personal connection

And that wave of success they were riding… it eventually dies

Because they didn’t build a loyal fan base

We are a completely fully booked company that specialise in online advertising…

But we have spent ZERO money advertising for ourselves.

Fuck, we don’t even have a public website. (We’ve added a bit of value there instead)

Why?

Honestly.. we don’t have the systems set up yet.. we wouldn’t be able to handle incoming traffic.

Our service quality would drop

We wouldn’t be able to give as much value to our clients

We have focused on over-delivering instead

Would we earn more money by squeezing more people in and running advertising? Of course… short term

But at what cost…

Your brand and your reputation is everything

Your brand and your reputation is what will make you sales in 5, 10, 20 years time

I couldn’t give a shit if you were getting cheaper sales running people through deceptive advertising

They’re going to cost you a hell of a lot more in the future
