3 Reasons Why Your FitPro Lead Magnets SUCK.. And How To Fix Them

FREE ‘transformation’ sessions.

Sound familiar?

Course they do.

Now I’m not gonna be the asshole to say these don’t work.

Cos they DO.

But the truth is…

Most fit pro’s are doing them wrong.

And so are you.

How do I know?

Well, let me ask you this…

When was the last time you gained a solid lead as a result of using these? Hmmmm.

Thought not.

The thing is, I know exactly I how it feels to turn up to your 6am freebie only for it to be a no show…

Or to spend hours on your latest Office Word creation only for it to be a Facebook flop…

Or heck, even to brave the intrawebs and publish one of dem tings called a ‘landing page’ only for your subscribers to still be your mum, your best friend and your neighbour.

So let's get started with the 3 reasons why you're getting it wrong. (And be on our merry way to making it right).

Reason #1 - You're Stingy On The CTA

The whole point of a lead magnet is to generate leads.

The ONLY way that ^^ is going to happen is by getting those who consume your content to take the next step.

Wanna know the best way to do that?

Tell them.

And then tell them some more.

For example…

If it’s a downloadable E-book or guide, include multiple hyperlinks to an application form throughout.

If it’s a free session, continually position it as just the first step and then offer them (what now feels as) the natural upgrade at the end.

My point is, you have to be RELENTLESS in providing cold leads with opportunities to take the next step - hand them the CTA's on a plate!

(I actually refer to cold leads as 'naughty toddlers' - they need firm but hand-held direction).

Moving on...

Reason #2 - You're Stingy Full Stop

How does it make you feel when you eat something that looks amazing but tastes as exciting as Ghandi’s dry flip-flop?

Or when you order something from EBay only for it to be a ‘made in china’ replica?

Pretty pissed off... Right?

Well imagine if that was your potential client having received from you yet another E-book, with yet the same old protein pancakes, generic ‘mindset tips’ & #TransformationTuesday pics.

(As if written, designed and maybe printed by a 10-yr old).

Not. Cool.

But most importantly...

Not f*****g good enough. Here’s our 2-step general rule of thumb:

  1. If it’s not good enough to be paid for, it’s not good enough full stop.
  2. If YOU are not prepared to pay for it... No need to continue this sentence.

On the flip-side of the coin, it's possible that...

Reason #3 - You're Whoring Yourself Out

I.e. you’re giving away too much, too soon, for too little.

Now I know what you’re thinking.

That I’m contradicting myself as per reason #2

But lemme explain tiger 😉

You see, giving away a year's worth of healthy recipes is unlikely to encourage someone to buy your 365-page book of healthy recipes.

Similarly, giving away ££££'s worth of personal training sessions is unlikely to encourage someone to buy your personal training services.

Why?

Because it devalues what you're trying to SELL.

Want to know what to do instead?

  1. Ensure that your paid services are a natural upgrade from your freebies.
  2. Make your freebies a bonus feature of what you’re selling (i.e. slightly different).
